Classes

Thank you for your interest in the Sargasso Singing School.

I have been performing live since I was 16 years old, where I started at Dorset gardens singing Country and yes, Western. I still love country and R & B, Reggae, Roots, Jazz, Blues and the list goes on. I think that if you love it, just do it. I'm now 50, and just can't imagine my life without music. Singing helped me through the tradgedy of losing two children, during times of incredible depression and stress. It is a source of creativity that has been with us since the beginning of time as expressions of joy, celebration, spiritual rejoicing and ofcourse in mourning.

For the last few years I have been working with a band called 'Fats Wah Wah'. We are about to release our third CD. If you would like to catch the 'Fats', please check my gig page for details.

At Sargasso I hope to be able to share the joy that singing has brought to me with others, in a friendly, relaxed, encouraging environment. The classes are based on the following:

1. Opera excercises taught to me by Molly Hare from the Austrian Conservatory of Music. These excercises teach pitch control, vocal control and help to expand your range.

2. Working through songs, improvisation and trusting and finding uniqueness, while exploring a variety of genres.

3. All aspects of performance technique.

4. Breathing and relaxtion.

5. Music Industry information and Marketing strategies. Public Relations can be taught or supplied. (Website and CD Booklets etc.)

6. Live performance opportunities at local Venues.

7. Recording opportunities available.
